DIONYSUS – Interview with Nobby

Hello. Nice surprise. I didn`t expect a power metal band in 2002 to amaze me with their debut album. Tell me a few words about your history because most of the readers are not familiar with you.

Well, hi to you to, I'm glad to hear we caught your ear with the album. Ok, it all started in–99 with Ronny & Johnny and a canceled Japan Tour. Johnny was supposed to do a stand in guitar job with Ronnys previous band “Sinergy”. As it turned out Ronny quit the band, and the two of them decided to start up “DIONYSUS”. Johnny brought me(Nobby) in from his old band “Nation”, and after some try outs we hooked up with the keyboardplayerKaspar (Stormwind,TreasureLand) Last but not least we called up Olaf, whose voice we really had come to admire since his work on LucaTurilli's solo album. And here we are today….

Are you satisfied in general with the album after its release? Would you like to change something in it?

Yes, I think it turned out quite good in the end, of cause there are always things you want to do better or different, But isn't that what keeps you striving on =o)

Would you tell me a few words about the lyrics? You see the promo copy I have does not include lyrics.

There's quite a variety of subjects in the lyrics, maybe not the standard “Powermetalish”kind (if there is such?), They're more dealing with happenings, concerns or whatever just flashed thru the mind of the writer. We're not trying to change the world or something with them, but I think there's enough there fore every one to find something they can relate to.

What are your expectations from “Sign of truth”? Are you going to tour with another band?

Of cause we hope to reach out to as many listeners as possible, and that they like what we have to offer. This goes hand in hand with the size and length of any possible tour. What is for sure, is that there are going to be some festivals next year, as soon as we get the dates confirmed, we will keep everybody posted on our homepage at www.dionysus-metal.com

What is your opinion about power metal nowadays? Do you think there will be a chance for metalheads to pay more attention on it again?

I think that most bands now just copy their influences and have nothing important to offer.

I think there's already some changes starting to take place in the “Power Metal” genre, musicians coming from other backgrounds with other influences than from the traditional “Power Metal” scene is bringing in new blood into the music. I think “metalheads” will have plenty to look forward to in the next coming months/years.

Your name is an old greek god. The god of pleasure and fun. Did you know that? Do you believe that someone who has listened to your debut can enjoy it and be happy?

Yeah, that's one of the main reasons we choose to borrow the name from this great god. Life's way to short not to live it to the fullest, and take every chance to enjoy your self, And why not to the sound of “Dionysus”;-)
