MIDNIGHT SCREAM – Interview

Hello my friend. I am Andrew. How are you and

do you feel some months after the release of your debut album?

Wiser is the word my friend. I've seen a lot and I've learned a lot in those last months I΄ve made mistakes and I've learned from them.

I would like you to tell me some words about your history in brief in order to be easier for our readers to continue with this interview

Our history is pretty normal I guess… 5 young guys thursty for music that after 2 demos managed to get a record contract.

So, “The Evil Her”… Who are you referring to?

The evil side of “her”. “She” I’m afraid, does not only have a positive side. Every “her” has also an evil side that every “him” must fact in order to get to “her”. The referance to the evil side of “her” in our title, is just a simplified shortage of the above point of view.

I am not sure but I think that in the album there are some songs from your demo era. I do not have any of your demos but have listened to your last one and I think that “Lost In The Dark” was there and it was the opening track too. Am I right? And if I am, are there more songs from your demo era in the album?

Yes you’re 100% right. In fact all songs from that demo are rerecored in this album. But they have few things in common with the old versions

Are you satisfied with the album after its release or there is something you would like to change?

I’m never100% satisfied with anything I’ve released. I wish I had 3 more months in the studio to work on more or less everything, but that is impossible. There comes a time that you must simply put your record out and carry on composing. It’s just the rules of the game I’m afraid.

Of course your major influence is Nightfall. Aren’t you afraid of been reviewed as a band that just copies Nightfall?

Not at all. In fact the resemplance to nightfall is no surprise since the album was recoded in Mike Galiatsos’ studios. And since Nightfall themselves doesn’t see us as their clones, I don’t see why anyone else would.

Talking about Nightfall, what do you think about their latest release?

The album is very very good. But I just can’t get over the fact that Mine is no longer in nightfall. I know it was better for both to part ways but it just feels very strange to me…

How important do you consider your lyrics to be and, what are the sources from which your lyrical concepts are drawn?

To me they are very important. I write lyrics based on things that inspire me in life. A movie, a book, a woman… It could be more or less anything

Have you arranged any live shows in order to promote “The Evil Her” ?

For the moment that is not possible. We are way to much occupied with the recordings an mixing of our second album in Tico Tico studios and therefore I can’t find any free times to go to Greece for rehearshals.

Which ones do you believe are the most important difficulties for a Greek metal band to make a name in the worldwide scene?

We never learn from our mistakes I guess. And there is so much jealusy within the scene… Nothing like what you see in Sweden, where I live now. Here all bands help each other.

Would you prefer to be a great band in the underground

scene or just an average one in the mainstream scene?

I don’t realy care. I’m not expecting to get rich from music or become a rock star. Everybody who wants to listen to our music is welcome, it doesn’t matter if he’s an “underground” or “mainstream” person.

Tell me some of the bands you like and some of the bands you have been influenced from

I like and got influenced from bands like Slayer, Paradise lost and In flames. But my favorite band of all times is Savatage. And of course the guys from nightfall are an influence.

So, we are approaching the end. I want to thank you for your

time and wish you good luck for the future. Closing is yours

I just wanna thank you for giving me the oportunity to say a couple of things that needed to be said. Everybody who wants to contact me can use email: orionorbit@hotmail.com
