The band's official webpage has been given a new look with links to some new audio samples and photos. Our newest licensing partner, Risingworks, has made the CD available to Italian fans as well as many outlets throughout Europe, as a whole. Work is already being done for a follow-up release to the debut CD, “…beyond my grey wake” and a new drummer is still being sought after for future live appearances as well. The feedback on this album has been absolutely amazing!! It's always rewarding when the rest of the world sees that “something special” that I saw when I signed the band in the first place. If you have yet to give them a try, check out the audio sample and reviews.
Metal Edge, August '03 cover, by Josh Sindell
“Everything about How Like A Winter's debut album reeks of class. This young Italian band plays an intriguing blend of doom-laden classical-sounding arrangements, with a lead singer who calls himself Dust growling his death-metal bark through lamenting female voices (the singers name themselves Tragedy and Misery). Hardly a laugh-riot, …beyond my grey wake inspires comparisons to My Dying Bride and Lacuna Coil, but neither of those bands come close in simulating the cold beauty of melancholy as well as this sextet. Named after a Shakespearean sonnet (but you already knew that right?), HLAW are all about atmosphere and ambience, with lyrics that evoke elegant torment and despair, without ever succumbing to sophormoric “doth's” and “prithee's.” If this album were a rose, its thorns would never fail to draw blood.”
