Veteran Danish hard rockers PRETTY MAIDS have posted the following message at their official web site:
“WE'RE BACK!!!!!
“Well, in fact we've never really been away, but as some might have noticed, not a lot has been happening on our official homepage the last year or so, and to a certain extent not a lot happened within this band during the last year either.
“When our management company, Rock On, went bankrupt due to some very unwise business moves in Sept. 2002, it did not only leave this band (and quite a few others) in a very bad financial situation, but also left us with a lot of legal problems as well as lot of business and copyright mess. Well, we don't wanna come up with a lot of bad excuses, however that is by all means the main reason why this homepage and the in general lack of information has been missing the last year.
“Another reason is that the band in fact has been very low key or say more or less inactive for the most part of 2003. Apart from releasing the live album, 'Alive At Least', and playing two or three festivals during the summer, we haven' t really made a lot of noise last year.
“After twenty years of doing the same thing album/tour all over again, we simply decided that it was time for a little intermission, a little break off to recharge our batteries and really get back the true desire to play some rock 'n' roll again. It's not that the lust to play was completely gone but then again we do in fact up to this day think that it did the band a lot of good with a little 'time out'.”
PRETTY MAIDS recently started writing material for their next studio album which is set for release in the autumn 2004, followed by a full-scale tour. The band are expected to start recording their new CD during the spring. More information will follow.
PRETTY MAIDS are currently planning on doing several festivals in the summer of 2004. Exact details will be made available soon.
In other news, a blood clot was reportedly found in guitarist Ken Hammer's heart on December 6. Although this is a serious matter, “Kenny” is said to be in good spirits and is currently on his way to full recovery.
