Cool Songs: funeral thirst, contagion

The Black Dahlia Murder is a five-piece act, which formed, in early 2001; right away they began making music that was both uncompromising and brutal. Their music takes inspiration from such acts as At The Gates and The Haunted, while still keeping their sound melodic and original. In 2002 The Black Dahlia Murder released there first EP called “A Cold-Blooded Epitaph” it was at this point that the band signed to Metalblade Records, and started to record their first full length debut “Unhallowed”.

The title track serves as an introduction to the album, by having the lead singer (Treavor Strnad) read from a cannibalistic book. Then all hell breaks loose when the second song “Funeral Thirst” starts with an alarming pace. Strnads vocals on this album can only be described as amazing. He switches from a high rasp to a low demonic growl on almost every track. Killer vocals, double bass drums, and brutal guitars come to make one of the best death metal albums of the year. As of this month Trevor Strnad has left the band, but has left behind a trail of brutality that can never be copied. Be sure to check them out.
