CANS „Beyond the Gates”

What can I say other then this disc flat out is awesome. Joacim Cans is by far one of the best voices in metal today. On top of recording his first solo effort he is the great voice of HAMMERFALL. Most singers that venture out and try there hand at a solo effort fail greatly in my opinion but that is not the case here. As you can see by the band he has behind him there are no light weights here as well as some of the special guests he has appear also. By no means is this not an extension of HAMMERFALL or a knock off of it but a very heavy, solid effort that is written and recorded with no budget cut short. The mix and production leaves nothing to be desired . The production work was done by no other then Joacim Cans , Stefan Elmgren and Charlie Bauerfiend of HAMMERFALL fame. The music on this disc takes on a darker feel of anything he has done before and is mixed with some of the best metal music that has been released so far this year. This is a ride thru the metal world that any metal fan would enjoy taking anytime. Razor sharp riffs with deep and heavy hooks to keep you spell bound with great writing. All this delivered from a line up that would put some seasoned bands to shame is what you get here with no disappointments. Any vocalist that is thinking about cutting a solo disc in this day in age in the metal world should listen and take notice to this disc. We as fans would benefit the effort. This disc is on my best of 2004 list and will more then likely make my CD of the year list but the year is not over and there is still more to hear so the list continues to grow. This is a must have for anyone that is a true power metal fan.
