CLOSER THAN KIN „Dead Flowers For A Dying Lover”

CLOSER THAN KIN „Dead Flowers For A Dying Lover” - okładka

And what have we got here? A hybrid of Integrity (not my favorites) and Ignite (they sure rock!). Even the vocals shift between these two styles and the two guys behind the mics do a great job here and it sure is emotional. You've got the screaming black metal-like HC vocals and the emo-core melodic ones. CTK claim that they've got many musical influences and maybe they are right but I think that my description if pretty fair anyway.

The first song is the weakest track and to me it's a little too basic and primitive to enjoy and reminds a little too much of Integrity in every aspect. It's a little to moshy and tireing. The following tracks show a more varied and interesting side of this band as they change like a chameleon back and forth between the two bands I mentioned above. Every new track that hits my ears gives more content and there is a lot of potential here. I hope that these guys will record another MCD soon but spare us the one-riff-played-in-two-ways-Integrity boredom they presented in track #1.

The MCD (their 3rd recording this far) has been recorded by Steve Austin (Today Is The Day) and the sound is very underground although polished and this is good cos you hear all the separate musical achievements. Otherwise the weakness of this kind of music is the musical landscape that often is a blend of everything into one big concrete wall of noisy sound where you can't tell what is what. In other words: great production here.

I can't give less than 7 out of 10 points here 'cause these guys really deserve it!
