“Dimension F3H” is NOT a project, but the new band of Morfeus of former Limbonic Art fame” – the bio claims proudly. Limbonic Art's split up was hanging in the air for a while already since Morfeus' experimental drive was a little too much for his colleague. Although far from conventional this new record is thankfully not a vague, avantgarde exercise. 'Reaping The World Winds' and Dimension F3H will more than likely appeal to a much broader section of the metal populace than the more Blackish Limbonic Art.
It is obvicous that people will compare this to earlier Limbonic Art releases, my first thought is that this easily matches LA in quality. The record strikes a fine balance between aggression, melody and experiment. The style is hard to name, it's amix of heavy, black, thrash and industrial peppered with a few influences from even more genres. Therein lies the danger of incoherency but Dimension F3H manages to tie everything together quite nicely.
The band started as a non-metal project, this can be heard very clearly when listening to tracks like 'Waterworld' or 'Reborn' which invoke the images of Jean-Michel Jarre; in my twisted mind at least. According to Morfeus these two pieces were supposed to fit in the ambient/darkwave style.
The largest difference with Limbonic Art are the vox. I guess you could call it 'clean' but this does not do justice to the vocalist (Nesmoth). He has a very versatile throat and uses it to full effect on 'Reaping The World Winds'. The skinner Thunderforce is tight and never misses a beat. His drumming fills out the music without ever being 'just a filler'.
IMHO this is a debut record that Dimension F3H should be proud of . 'Reaping the World Winds' and 'With an Overdose of Ecstacy' are the highlights without taking anything away from the other tunes. I am sure (and hope) we will hear from Dimension F3H again in the future.
