FALLEN WISDOM „Pleasure Turns To Pain”

This is a true underground release. These four Puerto Rican guys (Steph, the guitarist, is a chick!) deliver ten songs, one of which is recorded in two versions (one in Spanish). The music evolves around old-school hardcore and rock. There's a sinister touch to it and bands such as Misfits, Life of Agony and Pist-On came to mind. The production is very poor and the sound quality is very dirty and unpolished. It bugged me while listening to the CD for the first time. On the other hand this is maybe the intention? The fact that the material is pretty strong made me forget the somewhat lacking production. There's only one thing I can't forgive: the guitars sound very transistor and weak in the mix. A more powerful guitar sound would add a lot to the songs.

The lead singer Radu has a melodic voice but he also possesses the power to roar like Danzig. What came to mind was Keith from Life of Agony and Danzig, of course. Have you ever heard of Natas (an stoner-rock band from Buenos Aires, Argentina)? This is how Radu sounds when singing in Spanish.

The songs are pretty diverse and you get two minute long hardcore-anthems as well as longer melancholic tracks. This is certainly a CD for fans of the Misfits and Danzig. There is melody, potential, charm, attitude and of course music!
