IRON CLAD „Lost in a Dream”

IRON CLAD are from Belgium and offer up a very pleasant piece here. This being only a 4 track disc this makes you wonder what they might be able to do given the chance to record a full CD. The CD starts out with a very rich and thick sounding song that brings thoughts of IRON MAIDEN to mind but only in the music. It is a very well written song and is arranged well with a great galloping rhythm and some very well played and mixed keyboard. The second song also reminds me of IRON MAIDEN. The song starts out with some great sound effects of men at arms bringing battle upon each other. The third song keeps the ball rolling in the same direction without letting up much. The forth and final song is the heaviest one of the four grabbing you from the start and not letting go till the final beat.

Over all this is a very interesting CD and it only a four song disc but there is one downside to the disc. The vocal work on this CD is done by Gunther Theys of ANCIENT RITES and while he may have a good voice for ANCIENT RITES i just cant get into his work here. Don't get me wrong here for he does a good job but I think the vocals are very much overplayed on all the tracks. His vocal work here almost crosses over into the classical sound. I think he could have downplayed some of the theatrics a bit and just sang. The mood that is trying to be set in some of the songs require a style like this but not to be overplayed as they are here. It just takes a little from the music. Aside from the vocals being a little overplayed this is a great disc. Those of you who are into Bands like IRON MAIDEN, GAMMA RAY, and STORMWARRIOR will like what you hear on this disc. This Disc is distributed on SOUL REAPER RECORDS.
