MOONLIGHT „Candra”

It starts with a song that mostly sounds like Stereo Mud meets Faith No More meets Korn with female vocals. Heavy, groovy …killer track. The following track is very ambient and almost contemplative and that's also the rest of the album. There are some heavier riffs along the way but not as energetic as on the first track.
This CD has too many references to describe. Every song has an own sound and it's a little confusing but intelligent as hell. Or what do you say about further ingredients such as: Tool, gothic rock and Polish medieval hymns sung by Enya? One song sounds like the Led Zeppelin cover “No Quarter” that Tool recorded on “Salival”… it's not a rip-off but the riffs are pretty similar as well as the sound effects.

All in all not too much metal but pretty sinister and beautiful. Most songs are pretty slow and kind of trance or dream like. Almost everything is played on real instruments (guitars, bass & drums). The electronic parts or piano parts are not too overwhelming. Other goth bands tend to overdo these two aspects.

The band considers their music goth but I would say it isn't. The atmosphere is not vampire-like enough or dark enough. The whole CD is something more of a dream and the listener joins the journey… it starts with a little metal and thunder (the beginning of the CD) that slowly loses its strength to become a pleasant and atmospheric flight. Do you think I'm being poetic now? You're damn right! Just listen to this great album and you'll learn why!
