MOURNING BELOVETH „The Sullen Sulcus”

This band is new to me but i was very interested in hearing what they had to offer after reading a little info on the band. this band is from Ireland and has been around since 1992 but never got there first demo out till 95 and since then have recorded two other CD's and this one being the second of the two and there most recent. the best way to describe there sound over all is a cross between Type O Negative / Cathedral/Black Sabbath with a vocal sound of Cannibal Corpse. There is nothing fast or thrash about this CD. All doom and black metal. the music on this CD is full of riffs that are so thick you could cut them with a knife and an overall bottom end that is just crushing. Being a huge fan of music like this makes this CD a great find. me Not being a big fan of this style of vocals they kind of lost me as well as got boring at times but I still keeps interest in the disc. There is a haunting and captivating sound to this CD that will just not let you push the stop button on your player. only those that can take a journey within the mind while listening to music will understand but this disc is a ride among the senses that will leave you drained at the end. The band plan on touring the states in 2003 as well as put out a dvd and I am interested in seeing if they can capture the mood live as they have on CD.

Fans of TYPE O NEGATIVE, CATHEDRAL, BLACK SABBATH as well as fans of a vocal style that will just make you cringe in fear will love this CD it is DOOM DOOM DOOM to the max. Great CD guys.
