IRON CLAD „Lost in a Dream”
IRON CLAD are from Belgium and offer up a very pleasant piece here. This being only a 4 track disc this makes you wonder what they might be able to do given the chance to record a full CD.
IRON MAIDEN „Rock In Rio”
The Double DVD set contains their live concert performance filmed at the world famous Rock in Rio festival in 2001 in front of a sell out audience of 250,000 fans and a global TV audience of millions. The concert was filmed by Globo TV with 14 Cameras including 2 cranes and a helicopter and a further 4 man camera team which was directed by Dean Karr who worked with the band when he directed the video for 'The Wicker Man'.
IRON MONKEY „s/t”
To begin with the music: heavy doomy with that metal edge on the guitars. Not really stoner-rock but 70-influenced in the same vein as the bands mentioned earlier on.
ISENGARD „Crownless Majesty”
This being the first time ever hearing this band I was very impressed and found it hard removing it from my player. Being Into bands such as Blind Guardian, Gamma Ray, Rapsody and other progresive power metal bands this disc will get your attention real quike.
JADIS „Fantastic”
Jadis are a progressive/classic rock quartet from the south of England, and they have actually been around in various forms since the mid-80s playing throughout Britain, England, at the Hammersmith and Marquee Clubs. Throughout the years this is actually their 10th release, but Fantastic (2003) from Inside Out Music just might prove as their breakthrough.
JESTERS MOON „s/t”
What can be said about this CD other then boring and leads nowhere. The first few songs on this disc grabs your attention and really makes you think you are in for a treat then it slows way down.
GUTTER SIRENS „Memory Analysis”
Cool songs: Chameleon, Appearances, Figure In The Fog, Forgotten Song. But actually all are very good.
.
GATES OF ISHTAR „Dawn in Flames”
I remember when i buyed this album, i said “more a la -dark tranquillity-in flames- at the gates bands!” SO i listen to the album a few times and then it was in between my other albums. BUt then, in 1999, i realized “WHere are the goteburg bands?, where is that agressive and melodic mix that caracterize this bands? what's happenning with In flames and dark tranquillity? at the gates is dead? The haunted is not the same stuff…” this kind of questions and thoughts move me to get this disc again and give it the respect that really deserves.
GENIUS „A Rock Opera: Episode 2: In Search Of The Little Prince”
In the wake of the recent Ayreon release, it is a rather difficult task to approach any other 'rock opera' of 2004 in a solely subjective light. As far as conceptual progressive metal albums go, for me AAL's 'Human Equation' remains the untouchable benchmark.
GOATLORD „Distorted Birth: The Demos”
Goatlord have been around from 1985 until 1991. Despite only having released two demos, a promo and a single full length they managed to garner a sizable following in the contemporary extreme metal scene.
GOAT OF MENDES „Thricefold”
If you want to laugh, do not search for the latest jokes on the internet. Give your money and buy “Thricefold”.
GOD DETHRONED „Ancient Ones”
This is not the new album of this well-known band. It is just a compilation with demo tracks, unreleased and live ones and a video track.
GOD DETHRONED „Into The Lungs Of Hell”
I'm glad to review some stuff from my homecountrey, I hope it doesn't distort my opinion on this great dutch death metal band.
.
GOD MACHINE „s/t”
This is GOD MACHINES first effort as a band and the CD only has two tracks so this review will not be very long. I do not have much info on this band other then there web site address and the list of the members.
GODDAMNED, THE „s/t – Demo”
It's not stoner in the same way as Kyuss but these Swedish guys kick out quite a jam. The music is 70s influenced but there is a little touch of metal and hardcore in their sound, guess it's the Cathedral-sounding production.
GODHEAD „Evolver”
This CD really took me by surprise. I've heard a couple of tracks from their first album “2000 Years of Human Error” (released in 2001) and I really hated their Marilyn Manson-like boring electro-rock.
GODSMACK „Faceless”
Well, the boy's of GODSMACK are back with another disc of metal for the masses. I received this CD as a promo so no set list at this time is available.
GORGASM „Bleeding Profusely”
This is an album which gets straight to the point, no messing. 11 tracks in under 25 minutes doesn't give the band much time to add in many niceties.
GORY BLISTER „Art Bleeds – Promo”
What I have here is a simple three-song promo from a death metal outfit Gory Blister from Italy. The three songs, Anticlimax, Art Bleeds and Comet, come from Gory Blister's Art Bleeds CD which was actually released in 1999.
GRAND ALCHEMIST „Intervening Coma-Celebration”
I guess it would be enough to say: this record is for maniacs of pompous, soaked in keyboards black metal. These words could make a review.
GRAND BELIAL'S KEY „Judeobeast Assassination”
This band wouldn't like me to write a positive review about their album, because they're as black as black can be, but I'm afraid I'll have to.
.
GRAVE „Back From The Grave”
I want to start this review by saying that I never was a follower of GRAVE and thier music. For some unknown reason I just over looked their Cd's when I was Cd searching.
GRAVE DIGGER „Rheingold”
This is s disc that I have been on the edge of my seat waiting on since I heard the band was recording it. I go way back as a GRAVE DIGGER fan and the band has only let me down a couple of times but then again no one is perfect and you cant please everyone all the time.
GRAVE DIGGER „Tunes Of War”
Grave Digger – a pile of German heavy metal. With every new album the band gives us a new dosage of tight and heavy metal.
GREEN CARNATION „A blessing in Disguise”
I haven't heard any of Green Carnation's previous stuff, but I bought this on the strength of one song. I wasn't let down as it's a cracking listen.
GREYSCALE „When The Ghosts Are Gone”
This cd was sent to me by a friend. I have never heard of this band till now but found it to bee a pleasent listen.
GRIEF OF EMERALD „Christian termination”
Grief of Emeralds previous releases were more in the black metal vein, but the first thing to greet your ears when popping this little baby in the CD tray is the intensity of the guitars. They are punishing, make no mistake about it.
GUTTER SIRENS „Memory Analysis”
“Memory Analisis” – then music for fans HELLOWEEN, HAMMERFALL, or STRATOVARIUS!!! I am full admiration for my neighbours (we surely cross each other on SHARK ATTACK once it once – hehehe)!!! It is cleanest heavy metal what it been possible to dream out. This material is really excellent…
FURIA „Un Lac De Larmes Et De Sang”
After a short intro that sounds like a typical French song festival song, Furia immediately starts to try to catch up with the impression that was generated by its name. And I must say they really succeed in that, (but I'll try to keep my personal opinion on this band out of the review).
.
FADING COLOURS „The Beginning 89-93”
“Well, everything started in 1986 in Boleslawiec, Poland (near Jelenia Gora). Brothers Leszek and Krzysztof Rakowski, together with Piotr Jerominow and Pawel Nowak, created the band “Bruno The Questionable.” The name was taken from the movie “Jabberwocky” by Monty Python.
