DICK DELICIOUS AND THE TASTY TESTICLES „We Sold Our Souls For Wet Sloppy Holes”

Judging by the childish band name and the ugly CD cover I thought this would be some kind of Blink 182 sing-along pop-punkrock with stupid lyrics… I wasn't entirely wrong about the lyrics ; ) but the music these now-and-then masked American (or is it Canadian… their CD was printed in Canada) nuts play is in a heavier league than that.

DISGORGE „Consume the Forsaken”

Here in the UK, it is difficult enough to get hold of underground releases such as this let alone find reviews of them. There is a market for it, so why isn't there any promotion in the magazines? People are missing out on some superb exercises in brutality and sometimes I wonder whether I am the only one who listens to it.

DOMAIN „…from Oblivion”

First riffs of this album remind me a lot that project of Jason Newsted with Devin Townsend called IR8, it's like Celtic Frost going a little bit hardcore and using vocals that wanted to grunt but not reaching that level. The use of acoustic guitars adds a good effect and mark the difference between IR8 and Domain.

DRACONIS SANGUIS „Between Insanity And Brilliance”

Why someone should buy a release like this one which has a production worst than a demo and the music is also worst than the one of a good unsigned band? Draconis Sanguis come from Germany and this release could be considered as an average one if it was their demo. But by the time this is a release from a label… and the fault is also to their label, Metal Age because the production really sucks.

DRAGONFORCE „Valley OF The Damned”

Dragonforce, a London England outfit formerly known as Dragonheart (A name change came about to avoid confusion with other bands using the Dragonheart title), play up-tempo power metal at its technical best. Track 1 'Invocation Of Apocalyptic Evil' is a short 13 second intro, while 7 out of the 8 remaining songs are tremendously fast with melodic (and high at times) vocals from ZP Theart, intricate guitar interludes from Herman Li and Sam Totman, harmonic keyboards from Vadim and solid drumming from Didier.

CALLAHAN „Art of…Third Act Zero Two”

To resume, this polish band have a mix between the Rotting christ sound, a bit of Gothenburg stuff and some Chuck's Death riffs with Vocals sounding like a melt of Sakis (Rotting christ) and Mille Petrozza (Kreator-extreme aggresions era-). This guys have good musicianship and technicality, but they don't reach a point where we can say it's a band offering a new stuff in the genre.
