Ritual’s THINK LIKE A MOUNTAIN is a progressive rock creation from Inside Out Music. Interesting acoustic passages mix with fascinating keyboards and melodic Dream Theater styled vocals on the opening track ‘What Are You Waiting For’. But Ritual has little, indescribable differences that set them apart from other progressive rock bands. Perhaps it’s their offbeat song-titles which are sometimes used including ‘Explosive Paste’, or maybe it’s their environmentally conscious lyrics used in conjunction with a folk leaning on ‘Once The Tree Would Bloom’? Or just maybe it’s the psychedelic smoke and hazed styled guitar interludes on ‘Mother You’ve Been Gone’? Actually, it’s a lot of things combined that make Ritual interesting, and if you want to hear a CD where every song sends meaning through your spine you should check into Ritual.
This Swedish band consists of Singer/guitarist Patrik Lundstrom, bassist Fredrik Lindqvist and drummer Johan Nordgren, and they have been playing together for over ten years. Taking influences from numerous places, Zeppelin, Pink Floyd, Yes, The Flower Kings and others. This album has generated a lot of good reviews already, but as always, beauty lies in the ear of the listener. So it’s suggested that you check into Ritual either through the Inside Out music page – http://www.insideoutmusic.com – or through the official Ritual Site – http://www.ritual.se/ – the Ritual band site is actually quite visual and entertaining to look at!
