A true journey through mystic realms it's what Johan Edlund and co. make in this album. Difficult to label, but without a doubt, an avant-garde release that can be compared with Celtic Frost's Into the pandemonium album. This album has a variety of sounds and gimmicks; Tiamat use doom-gothic metal as a backbone through all the album, but complete it with acoustic guitars, beautiful and dark keyboard melodies, Arabian (or/and Russian?) folk harmonies, some death/thrash metal riffs, clean vocals, whispers, male choirs and a obscure ambiance that it's difficult to find on an album. If you have listened to recent albums of Tiamat and think are too soft or mellow for your ears, well, this is not the case. This is dark and obscure metal with attitude. With all mentioned above, I really don't recommend one song as a highlight, because the entire 8 songs on the album is a highlight for avant-garde lovers.
