RUNNING TIME: 57.33
So, another year, another Rage album. These guys must be one of the most hard working groups around what with all the touring and finding the time to make top class albums such as this.
Their last few efforts admittedly passed me by as I couldn’t get past the sub par production. 1999’s Ghosts was the last Rage album that I enjoyed, but this new one is shaping up quite nicely.
The first thing you notice when listening to this is how fresh it sounds and how relevant it is in today’s rock scene. This is better and more important than all of these supposedly “fresh“ bands making the rounds today.
This album has been receiving rave reviews from around the globe and I can only say that I agree with everything that has been said. Each song is a classic in its own right. Rage manage to mix a range of styles without them ever sounding out of place. opener “War of Worlds” is a cracking way to start the album and the songs get better and better from this point. There is no point trying to pick a standout track, as they are all very strong. The riffs come thick and fast and some imaginative drumming keeps the listening experience interesting.
Did I mention the production? Well, it’s excellent. Peter’s vocals can be heard in all of their glory and the other instruments are perfectly balanced to create the ultimate listening pleasure.
Whether you are young or old, there is something for everyone on this album. Don’t be fooled by the fact that Rage have been around since the mid 1980’s, they play in your face metal that has a rightful place in 2003.
