Can Unique Leader do any wrong at the moment? After blistering releases from Mortal Decay, Disgorge and the new Deeds of Flesh comes this superb exercise in death metal brutality. The sound is crystal clear and the band plays as a very tight unit. Severed Saviour plays fast, but don't substitute this speed for quality.
The guitar work of Jared is particularly impressive: it sounds as though there are five guitarists playing here; such is the power he creates. There is a lot of intricate picking as well as the bludgeoning riffs. The band doesn't stick to the tried and tested route of playing as fast as possible for the entirety of the album. Instead, they put in some nice grind touches and slower parts which build until they release another crushing riff.
The final song on the album is an acoustic piece written and performed in memory of Rob “So Vile” Lumbre and is a very beautiful piece, completely different from anything else on the album, but it fits in perfectly.
So, another top notch death metal release which sits nicely next to the new Deeds of Flesh. Nicely packaged and savagely executed, people will be talking about this for some time. Highly recommended.
