Music: Thrash/Black Metal
Duration: 35:00 minutes (9 songs)
Good songs: Hard to Choose, I guess I'll go for Bride Of Lucifer or Bleed For Thy Sins then
Wind Of The Black Mountain was started in 1992 by Tchort, formerly of Masochist, as a one-man project, and has become a great band in my opinion. Its main influences lie in Cradle Of Filth and Slayer, but also old school black metal influences are present. WOTBM Manages to combine the wildness of thrash, and the evil of black metal in a brutal mix of satanic onslaughts. On this disk, battlefield intros, nazi-talking and children worshipping Satan are also present, what gives the album a really evil overall. However this is traded in sometimes for rain-sounds or acoustic parts, to vary the atmospheres a little. This is a good thing and it works out pretty well, to make the music more interesting, but the acoustic parts are nothing to be really enthusiastic about, although the melodies are good (very sad).
The quality of the song is high; the album doesn't get dragging (only during the last song maybe, if you heard the album for 5 times in a row, like I did). The music is very varied, so you don't have to focus a lot to be able to enjoy this stuff. As I said, you can hear three main influences in the music; in the beginning of track 8, you easily recognize some Malevolent Creation, tracks 2 and 3 can't hide Cradle Of Filth influence, and the overall sound is very Slayer-thrash/riffing alike. The (true) black part in this comes very close to bands like Grand Belial's Key.
The production is pretty good, considering this is being sold as blasphemous, filthy black metal. Technically speaking this stuff really is topnotch, and lyrically it can't get any more blasphemous.
I really liked this album, due to the great combination of thrash riffing and black sound/melodies/style. I'd advise everyone who likes to hear some fresh material to give this a few listens, it's really good stuff.
