This was a great day for a show as well a great place for a show. The last time I saw MOTORHEAD was years ago on Lemmy's 50th birthday and I had the chance to see DIO last DEC in Towson, MD the last time I saw MAIDEN was on the live after death tour years ago so there was a lot of water that had passed under the bridge for two of the three bands.
MOTORHEAD hit the stage at 7:30 prompt and played a thirty min set that consisted of a couple tracks from the newest CD HAMMERED as well as a few old tracks to take you down memory lane which was nice. The only two problems there where was it way hard to see them with the sun still setting and them being under a covered amphitheater with me being out from under the cover. Second was the sound board had the guitar turned way up to loud and it drowned everything else out. The energy from the band was there but the sound killed everything.
DIO came second with a one hour set that also consisted of songs of old as well as old. having seen DIO in DEC i was hoping for alt. well DIO himself performed to the Max but it just seemed that the band was ether tired or just flat. the sound problems where slowly being worked out but still where there with it being hard to hear Craig Goldie's guitar for most of the show. By the time DIO's set was over night had fell and problems with the sun was over just I time for the main act MAIDEN.
I have kept up with MAIDEN for years and knew that they where still delivering the goods but was still looking forward to seeing them. All that can be said about this band live is WOW. When they hit the stage it was with an energy that not many young bands do. A lot of the younger bands of today could learn a lot from these guys. The triple guitar attack that this band has now is very hard to beat and might not be for some time as well as the Bottom end of Nicko McBrain and Steve Harris as well as the talented voice of Bruce Dickinson. All that can be said of Bruces voice has already been said but this guy just keeps on amazing me for he does not seem to be slowing down but getting better. Bruce never stayed in one place for to long during the show as well as the rest of the band. No IRON MAIDEN show would be complete without a visit from EDDIE and he was there in all his glory. Great stage set up as well as a great light show to boot. For any one that has never seen IRON MAIDEN live please make the effort to do so for you will not be disappointed in any way. short of a few sound board problems and a DIO set where the band was just flat on performance this was a great show. IRON MAIDEN made up for all the other little problems with a flawless performance and i would gladly go see them again with any list of opening bands
overall show 9 out of 10
