SCORPIONS, WHITESNAKE, DOKKEN

This Friday night was a night that I will remember forever. After listening to Scorpions for a long couple of years, I had the chance to see the band that to me was and still is the definition for hard rock. My dad introduced them to me while I was still a little kid so this was like a dream come true.
On this night the arena was nearly full, with I would say about 9-10,000 people. The show started at 7pm like scheduled, no delays or anything like that. Dokken was up first being the opening act, personally I never listened to Dokken before and I would have to say that I didn't miss much; they're simply not my style. The sound kind of sucked during the first two songs, then it got better but not a lot. Overall, they played for half an hour, they got the crowd pumped up a little bit, did their job, no buts.

Then came Whitesnake…the crowd went nuts. The sound was awesome, it was loud and heavy. The light effects were also very cool. I only knew a couple of their songs, but that didn't stop me from banging my head. They played a couple of slower songs but most of the songs were fast and heavy (in other words, the way I like it). David Coverdale's voice was magnificent, he sang like the best of the best sing, and the whole band showed lot professionalism in what they do. Even tough at first I wasn't too sure about Whitesnake, after their performance I will buy a couple of their cd's because they do kick some serious ass.

After Whitesnake stopped playing and the crew was setting up the Scorpions set, one guy in the row below me destroyed the chair in front of him and threw it over the balcony, it landed on somebody's head and that person was taken by the ambulance. They cops came eventually, arrested the guy, asked us a couple of questions, took some pictures of the busted seat and left. Then the break ended.

Then Scorpions came out…and the crowd was a couple of times louder then when Whitesnake came on. The first guitar riffs sent a shiver thru my spine, the sharp, steel-like sound thundered through the arena. The sound was crystal clear, every guitar riff, every drum beat was a pleasure to listen to. Mostly they played stuff from their old albums, around the “Blackout” time, etc. They played for an hour and a half, add maybe 15-20 mins to that. One of the things that I like a lot were the guitar solos and the drum solo that lasted more than 5 minutes, but it was simply awesome, a piece of art, and the drummer did his best. Their stage performance was on a really high level, coordinated, they knew how to pump up the crowd, and get it going. Klaus (voc) was throwing drum sticks to the audience, in large quantities and a couple of times during the show. They ended the show with “Rock You Like a Hurricane” (everyone going nuts even more), before that came two ballads, one of them was “Wind of Change” and I can't remember the other one's name, but I sure as hell know it. To sum it up, Scorpions kicked ass 100% and more…and I truly look forward to seeing them again, cause the show they put on is worth seeing, and what they play is pleasure to every Scorpions fan.
