Eciton is a new death metal band from Denmark but its member are very experienced as they have been involved in numerous death metal bands and projects in the past. Oppressed is their debut album and it has been released by Adipocere records.
In their bio they support they are a melodic death metal band but I dont agree with that. I think they are more into pure death metal with some melodic parts but with many brutal ones too. Their riffs are amazing sometimes and the rhythm section is very stable. The vocals of Jesper Boeck are brutal ones and they could be perfect for a grindcore band as well. And this is what I dont like that much. I would prefer this music with some less brutal vocals or these vocals with a little bit more grind parts in their music. I dont know if you will like this combination. I am just telling you my opinion. I also have to tell you that the production is very good for this style but I think they should had paid more attention to their artwork.
In a few words, we have a very good death metal band with influences from bands like Iniquity, Cannibal Corpse and even old At The Gates in some parts and Oppressed is an album that you will enjoy if you like this style but I dont think you will get excited. I hope Eciton manage to excite us with their next album
