Glenn Hughes nearly killed himself with his drug addiction. But he found the right way again and presents his new album of his long career now. “Soul Mover” was and still is a fusion/funk album.

Glenn Hughes, who was born in 1952 in Cannock, England, could save himself a job in Trapeze, before he joined Deep Purple with his tremendous bass playing and his extraordinary voice that can go from the deepest abysses to the highest tops.

It is the fact that “Soul Mover” just brings old Deep Purple and metal fans of the 70´s to fall of their chairs. The today 40 – 50 year olds definitely think this album is a blast! But me for myself, I could throw that thing out of the window…
Every song is about 5 minutes of the same. This takes the one and only turn. The listener has the feeling to be caught in a middle heavy nightmare. In any case there is a little bit of Nu Metal (!) in the beginning of “Change yourself”. I always see Jamiroquai again and again, when I listen to that album… With a bit of more power this would have been not tooooo bad. But for me this is unfortunately not more than a middle quality rock album. With one word: nothing real new. But I can give you one tip: „Let it go“. Ok, although, „Isolation“ is the one and only song which keeps your ear busy! “Last mistake” is very bluesy. And I always thought „Don´t let me bleed“, when I had to listen to Glenn Hughes´ “Soul Mover”… But I couldn´t help myself. I had to stand it. And I finally survived…

This silver was produced very well. And this work goes to the persons Glenn Hughes himself, Chad Smith (who played drums on that album. Furthermore he is a band member of the Red Hot Chili Peppers), as well as Fabrizio V. Zee Grossi. Unfortunately, Dave Navarro in Jane´s Addiction is not able to help that awful music to get better. Navarro plays the solo of the title track and the intro of “She moves slowly”. I cannot say anything about tha abilities of the musicians. But this here is just a album full of middle quality rock (?) songs. Sorry.
