THERION, TRISTANIA, TRAIL OF TEARS

Stuttgart, 11 °C, hair is great… Trail of Tears invite together with Tristania and Therion to have a great gothic metal party. Pretty punctual the doors of the Longhorn open and the halls is getting full. I could get some drinks. And then Trail of Tears began at 7:30 with “Ecstasic” of the latest album “A new dimension of might”. In time it came to our minds: There were a lot of Trail of Tears fans here to support this band from Norway around Ronny Thorsen. Because Cathrine Paulen unfortunately left the band and keyboarder Frank Hagen did the same, Kjetil Nordhus (Green Carnation) hat the pleasure to do the female vocal parts as well as his own which he did not that bad. But Cathrine´s inordinary vocals were missing a bit. Three new songs of the upcoming album “Free fall into fear” were presented to the audience. The album is about to come out in January 2005. It rocked! I always ask myself: How is that singer Ronny able to bang his head like that and afterwards he still stands in his place without any neck pain…

After a short break (RockFabrik, listen to that!) Tristania entered the stage and also played a few new songs of their new album called “Ashes”. Vibeke, who had a magic around her and danced with an elegance, was the focus of the band. Growler Kjetil Ingebrethsen looked pretty bad beside this beauty with his little belly. Clear, but gentle at the same time, but cool anyway, singer Vibeke´s voice. With the posings, the moves and that great countenance she made not only the men go crazy. Even the femal metal fan (although there weren´t many female metal fans) were enthusiastic about her.

The people wanted more, but this band from Norway didn´t do that. After about 45 minutes gothic metal part 2 Tristania left the stage and a veeery long break happened…

On century later, I should better say, a few centuries ago Therion finally came on stage! Two male background singers and two female backgroundsingers and a femal lead voice, which gave me a blast! A few centuries ago, because the ladies and gentlemen wore ball gowns. The big opposite was the lead rock singer, who had a voice between Bruce Dickinson and Tobias Sammet!! Great!! This man must have had neck pain…

Masterpieces, the songs that Therion let us hear! Christofer Johnsson, who took the lead vocals in one song, made the fans happy with a good German. They played very new as well as very old songs. Therion had the fans on their side! Totally 5 bonus tracks for the people, for example a Nevermore and a Motörhead song! The last few songs were a little too much. But totally seen this concert was an experience! Stuttgart, 7 °C, hair is destroyed…
