EXODUS main man Gary Holt has confirmed that longtime guitarist Rick Hunolt has left the band in order to be there for his two sons. Hunolt wrote in a statement on the EXODUS website: “EXODUS deserves 110 percent from me and I just can't give them that anymore. My boys need me.”
His replacement is Lee Altus, who played with fellow Bay Area thrashers HEATHEN and DIE KRUPPS. As Holt commented, Altus “was not only the best guy for this job, he was the only one. No one else was ever considered.” Altus already played on the new album ťShovel Headed Kill MachineŤ, which is scheduled for an Oct 4th release and described by Holt as “an achievment in heaviness”. It is the band's first album to feature Altus, Ex-SLAYER drummer Paul Bostaph and new singer Rob Dukes.
