Formed ten years ago in the suburbs of Stockholm, Sweden, the members of BLINDSIDE (vocalist Christian Lindskog, guitarist Simon Grenehed, bassist Tomas Naslund and drummer Marcus Dahlstrom) have created their fifth and most socially stirring album in The Great Depression after cracking Billboards Top 40 album chart last year with About a Burning Fire.
The Great Depression was born out of a trip to South Africa that left primary lyricist Lindskog full of inspiration, tying the African nations rising death toll as a result of AIDs with the alarming rate at which American youth are taking their lives through suicide.
Though the subject matter on The Great Depression may outwardly seem morose, the thought-laden tracks are filled with rays of hope, not to mention diverse musical themes drawing comparisons to Rage Against the Machine, Franz Ferdinand and Radiohead. Listen for yourself, and let me know your thoughts!
BLINDSIDE will be on tour through the fall in support of The Great Depression. Tour dates are located at the Tour Dates section.
