How time flies
Exactly 30 years went by and JOURNEY still publish heavily. Their latest opus has got the name Generations. The gentlemen still haven´t changed their style and still deliver best AOR. Already since the past album called Arrival Steve Augeri (Ex-TYKETTO) has got the microphone. But he has to share it with the rest of the band members this time, because everybody wants to let us hear their golden voices on leadvocals and this works out fine. So the CD is going to be an experience. But you cannot make a difference between the voices of the singers (except the one of Ross Valory, whose regular occupation in JOURNEY actually is the bass guitar). Slowly but surely the incident JOURNEY is getting boring and they don´t reinvent themselves that´s no miracle, after 30 years! The numerous line-up changes within the years, the band was stylistically not swayed. And that´s why you can listen to the typical JOURNEY best at The place in your heart. Very melodic – the guys at their best! Nearly like Wheel in the sky
But they will never tie in with THAT song; this is my opinion!
Generations is a good album, but JOURNEY already did it better. And I still cannot accept the new singer. He´s not my favourite
A born-and-bred heartbreak tearjerker ballad can also be found: Knowing that you love me invites to a romantic dinner with the girlfriend and drips from corniness.
Besides that, we have a bunch of good musicians and they show us their competence.
Arrangement and production are again magnificant and I really like listening to the lively music!
note: 7/10
