You never heard something like this in your life!!! SAI BOK GWAI is two-persons team (created by Alex Yeung and Andre Custodio) presenting music names as Canto-core. Element “core” is for everybody known. However “Canto” mean Cantonese. Uniting these two notions the men created mixture of hard core, thrash metal and punk rock with Cantonese texts!!! In total are 30 tunes (entitled in Chinese, obviously Chinese's type with English translation) and for over 30 minutes of music (how is befit in true old hard core). Obviously the music base on quick, dynamic guitar riffs, helped by drummer's good work. The guitar's arrangements are fold with lots and lots of varied phrases and use hard core-metal patents (riffs, “sixteen”, damping, harmonies – that is these what is indispensable in hard music). The complex work of drums (like sudden changes of tempo, many passages, “broken rhythms” or the accents) gives the whole power as well as controls diverse tempo (although dominate presto tempo. The tempo is often break by various passages on drums or just “brake rhythms”). Obviously complement of the whole is very expressive singing vocal (sometimes shouting) in Cantonese language. This sounds outright oriental, although the line's melodious of vocal harmonize with climate of hard core. Unfortunately I can't say about the texts because I do not know Chinese, hehehe
But maybe in the future I will find out this with interview of SAI BOK GWAI. Last of all I add, that sometimes I had associations D.R.I. or else LAWNMOWER DETH. The CD professionally released in cardboard-plastic binding by Monkey King Records.
