“Rocking the USA” is a double live Cd that does not make the grade. WHITE LION were better in former times, at least to „Pride“ times… Despite a playing time of more than 90 minutes this sparse live show of the band cannot convince me at all. The song choice is situated on an interesting level. But there´s a lack of the conversion. Only the cult songs “When the children cry“ and „Radar Love“ (from Golden Earring) can lighten up the mood. But that happens a bit too late. And it is not very interesting, if the band is introduced or not on an album. Furthermore Tramp talks and talks. Hey, we wanna hear music. It is also annoying that the live atmosphere could not be caught very well and the songs unfortunately were hacked down. There´s not a single good bridge between the songs. The vocal abilities of Mike Tramp does not move on a high level, like we are used to it. The fire is missing and most of it just operates without any life. Even the mix of Michael Wagener is not an advantage anymore.
This album unfortunately is needless and perhaps just something for the SUPER die hard fans. Maybe that whole thing would be better on DVD …
