A day after Asbury Parks Bruce Springsteen performed his third of seven Giants Stadium concerts, Elizabeths own E-Town Concrete staged their own tribute to New Jersey thirty miles down the turnpike to a smaller yet no less passionate throng of devotees. On Saturday, July 19th, E-Town, a four piece influenced heavily by both heavy metal and hip-hop, invaded Old Bridges Birch Hill Nite Club to thank its die-hard local fans for all their support and to shoot a video for its single, Punch the Walls. After a powerful performance by Richmond, VAs Lamb of God, in which the metal five-piece rocked tunes such as 11th Hour and Ruin, E-Town took the stage as the Jersey faithful relentlessly chanted the bands name. For the next two hours or so, the Birch Hill Nite Club was hit with a tsunami of hard rock that reverberated off the clubs walls, into the mosh pits, through the crowd and straight back onto the stage, infusing the band with unlimited energy. Martini, the bands lead singer, even decided to break out E-Towns Dirty Jer-z as a sort of tribute to the fans, which he admitted hadnt been played in the last six years. Through Sick World, Mandibles and Baptism, the Elizabeth locals proved what theyve been trying to say along; dont bother grouping E-Town with all the other rap metal currently poisoning the airwaves these days, E-Town Concrete is in a class by itself. As the night wound down and the cameras came out to film Punch the Walls, E-Towns most fanatical supporters were rewarded as the band put on a show that would make the Boss glory days look severely weak in comparison. If anything, this show taught us that E-Town Concrete could definitely kick the shit out of the E-Street Band.
