GHOST MACHINERY – Interview with Pete Ahonen

GHOST MACHINERY is heavy metal group created in the beginning of XXIs century in Finland. The members of the band are: Pete Ahonen – Vocals, Guitars, Tapsa Pelkonen – Bass Guitar and Jussi Ontero – Drums, keyboards. They play very melodic and catchy heavy metal. I invite the vocalist for the short interview

Pete, hello friend! Over one year ago you released “Haunting Remains”! How did world accept this disc?

Hi there Pavel. The response was and is still awesome!! We are very happy all the great fan emails and great reviews etc This drives us forward.

Personally I'm delight this material! Lots of energy and melody! I wonder what do such catchy melodies come to your mind?

Well, thanks man for your kind words : ) I really dont know how those melodies come…

Obviously there appear quite a the lot dynamic guitars, heavy power metal serves except the excellent melodic sentences What do musicians have the largest influence for you?

The world is full of great musicians so, its very difficult to name a few but, Kai Hansen is one of the greatest in what comes to the vocal melodies and song writing.

I saw, that Jussi plays on the drums and the key. How do you play concerts? The key in your music is very important and it really raises value of the whole, so I do not imagine your concert without the key

At this point we are not considering a keyboard player so, the keys come from the computer laptop in live shows. And that has worked out really well!

Did you play concerts beyond Finland?

Not yet… If you want us to play in your country just contact us and well see…

You recorded the cover-song of GARY MOORE “Out In The Fields”. There sang Ville Laihiala from SENTENCED. How did you coax him to singing?

Well, from the start i wanted to be as authentic as possible so, as there are two different voices singing i thought it would be cool if Ville would sing those “Lynott” parts… I have known him for years so, this was a great opportunity to work with him outside the bar heh heh

And who is Mikko Myllylä. He played on the guitar in this song?

Mikko is one of my really close friends and hes an amazing guitarist as well so, i thought to give him a chance to play on the record and he did a excellent job! He is also the second guitarist when we play live and a guitarist from the band called, Wildcard

Your some songs often make very positive energy. This make that men raise up and want to live or jump, hahaha

Oh. Im happy that you found also positive sides from there… Yeah, it makes a weird combination, “happy” vocal melody and very negative lyrics…

Obviously I do not mean “Dreamworld”. The excellent nostalgic ballad!…

Yeah, this is one of the oldest songs on the album.

And I heard that Scandinavians like loneliness(?). What does you predispose your Scandinavian's climate?

Well, I dont know,… do we like loneliness?? Where did you hear that… : )

In Poland is such stereotype In principle Scandinavia associated me with more death or black metal, alternatively gothic metal, it's in dependence from country How does Finnish metal scene look at present?

Ive been really busy so, I havent kept my eye on the music scene here but, are there always great metal bands coming from Finland, right? 🙂

No, not always but there are really many metal bands (I mean Scandinavians bands, not only Finlands bands) I know that you have some different bands aside… I would like to find out something more about them

Oh yes, something is going on constantly…heh

I also one of the founder members of Burning Point. We have made two albums ( Salvation by Fire & Feeding the Flames ) with German label Limb Music. Due to the big problems on that label we decided that it was better to leave… We are “hunting ” a new record deal at the moment and there also has been interested labels. Our website is, www.brnpoint.com, there are some new song samples etc Check it out! And also i formed another band or “project”, Stargazer, it is the new Finnish Super Group : )!!!. The vocalist, Jari Tiura, is also the new Michael Schenker Group vocalist etc and the keyboardist is with Poison Black and Kalmah etc We all are very excited about this!! Currently we are demoing songs, we have about 10 songs already. We dont have a record deal, yet…The website will be opened in the near future as well… We are making “press release” soon….

When can we expect next material of GHOST MACHINERY? What will it be?

Well, the thing is that we left from the Sound Riot Rec because of their unproffesionalism in what comes towards the bands and towards the business side of things… I dont want to go to any details but, we are not the only band who did make that same decision. We have about 10 new songs mostly demoed and a few surprise cover songs! The new songs are heavier not so many really fast songs but, melodies are not forgotten : ) As soon well get them finished we put some samples on the website, www.ghostmachinery.com. The new album is coming , no worries….
