MAJESTY one of the most controversial heavy metal bands of Germany either you love or you hate them release in February with Hellforces their fourth studio album, after they have thrown their EP (Sons of a new millennium) out to the world.
MAJESTY were founded in the year 1997 by singer (and at that time guitarist) Tarek Maghary and guitarist Udo Keppner to show their passion that is called heavy metal. Clearly abutted on MANOWAR, MAJESTY always played loud and wild metal. The band testified with their numerous live concerts (and even festival gigs like the Bang Your Head!!! festival) that they can fascinate the metal hearts. Their true metal features bombast, epic metal tracks combined with a clean, thundering sound.
Because I have seen MAJESTY rise within their career nearly from the beginning until today, furthermore I saw them live and could listen to them on CD and they could convince me, I am happy to write that review.
After the band completed all of the metal clichés within the past three studio albums and a DVD, the guys walk in a different direction, without getting disloyal now.
With their fourth disc Hellforces that was recorded in spring 2005 in the ROXX studio with producer Stefan Kaufmann (U.D.O./Accept), MAJESTY bring to light what is expected from the band: phantastic, catchy metal hymns.
This they prove with the song Hellforces that bribes with a stamping beat and a wall of guitars as well as a great guitar solo after a majestic intro. This song is a (positive) beat in the face!
A little doomier is Dance with the demon. This song partly sounds a bit ancient, at least because of the opera-like female vocals of Johanna Mott (who also appears on Guardians of the dragon grail) and the low male choir.
Afterwards MAJESTY pamper us with their first single off Hellforces: Sons of a new millennium. Already the third catchy song of that album, although I have to say that this song is not that strong like the two others.
and this way the CD goes on and on with Heavy Metal desire. March for Victory goes into the mid-tempo direction. Raise your fist!
A MAJESTY untypical song is Like a raptor (also Nowhere man) that is more like U.D.O.
Freedom heart is a typical MAJESTY metal hymn. .
Fight forever is not as catchy as the rest, but good anyway.
And finally the band closes their new album with a brandnew version of Metal Law 2006. For that, the band invited Udo Dirkschneider for the guest vocals.
Lyrically seen, the five guys from Tauberbischofsheim/Germany do not only range in the heavy metal cliché with swords and dragons and steel. That is why MAJESTY should be honered and not laughed at anymore.
Totally seen, MAJESTY have grown from album to album, sound more grown up, massive and resonant then ever before. The band can look back at a lot of catchy songs (like maybe Like a raptor) and at a developped heavy metal album.
MAJESTY will go and tour Europe after the release of Hellforces to give us the full power of their heavy metal killers.
They are the sons of a new millennium, let the revolution begin!
