FAHRENHEIT – Interview with Carlos

FAHRENHEIT is an amazing Power Metal coming from Mexico. I got the chance to contact Carlos (Keyboardist) to ask for an interview since the last review I have done for their latest album “Uncharted Dreams”

Here what he said,

Hey Carlos, How ru?

Very well, thank you.

Tell us short words about Fahrenheit. I know this question is the nightmare for bands.

[icenter:fahrenheit_carlos01.JPG]

It is a tricky question… let's say that Fahrenheit is formed by six dreamers, working hard and trying to make a true contribution to music.

Why specially the name “Fahrenheit”?

In essence, we liked the name because it symbolizes energy in a way. Also, it is a name that is known worldwide, making it easier to remember.

How do you feel about your new album “Uncharted Dreams”?

We are very happy with the outcome, we feel that it really was a step forward after our previous demo (Epic Enter). It is a CD that we like to listen (as you would listen to a CD bought at the music store), and we are quite hungry to play the songs on our next shows.

I see that you and Alejandro are involved more with writing your lyrics. What do all your words about?

[icenter:fahrenheit_vox01.JPG]

Yes, we talk about possible ideas for themes and then I put it in writing. The songs tell stories of different times and worlds, beings of legends or myths… all of that in the perspective of the main character, what is going through his head, how he's feeling.

Do you play concerts often?

Not very often, but we are planning to change that this year, now that we have a complete line-up.

What about female vocals, haven't you thought about adding a feminine touch?

We did attempt that at the very beginning with the demo, and the result was good. The problem was to find a full time member for the task, as there were very few options available. In the end we decided to stay as we were, writing new material and modifying some of the original songs to have male backing vocals, in this case sung by me.

well….as u said on ur albums' cover…you are using a session Drummer (Jorge) and guest guitarist Josue? Tell us about that? and why you don't have permanent drummer..

[icenter:fahrenheit_drums01.JPG]

Well, it was difficult to find permanent members. We loved the work done by Jorge and Josué, and the option for them to stay onboard was there but it didn't happen, since they had other priorities. After finishing the CD, we moved to Guadalajara; thankfully we found Angelo (guitar) and Martín (drums) shortly after arriving. They have given it their all since day one, adding their touch to each song.

I See that Hugo ( producer) has done a great job with this album…Are you intending to work with him again?

His recording abilities are ever expanding. Yes, we would love to work with him again.

And contract signed with a record company yet?

Not yet, we'll see how the year turns out. We keep working, wether we get “discovered” or not.

Who do you consider major influences? and what other things that inspire you?

[icenter:fahrenheit_bass01.JPG]

Every member in Fahrenheit has different roots. In general, Alex likes classic rock, heavy, thrash and power metal; Javier likes the old prog rock (Pink Floyd,Yes, Genesis…); Luis likes heavy metal (Judas Priest, Iron Maiden) and pop; Angelo likes classical music, blues, thrash and hard rock; Martín has a rock, pop and latin fussion background; as to myself, before adding “metal” to the mix, I was mainly hearing experimental rock (Ex: Tori Amos, Bjork), new age, hard rock and pop rock. Other things that inspire us? Movies, japanese animation, suspense, fantasy and sci-fi books, art in general, and real life stories.

What was the main reason you became a musician?

At first it was a family tradition, to pick up and learn how to play an instrument when I was a kid. Afterwards the need to be constantly playing grew… it just felt very liberating, no matter what I was playing. It was years later, around college when the need for music turned into a life project.

personal favorite “Fahrenheit” songs?

If I have to choose: “Distant Sun” and “Alone”

With whom you would dream about touring or playing together?

[icenter:fahrenheit_guitar01.JPG]

There's a lot of bands that we like to play with; the list is too large and it involves several genres. It would depend very much in mutual respect and chemistry, to carry out a succesful tour organization.

Any plans you are working on for now?

Right now we are focused on promoting this new CD, and setting up our next presentations. There are other exciting plans in the works but it's too early to talk about them, we will be posting updates on our site as things develop.

Final words…you have the microphone (laugh)

Oh dear (laugh), thank you and Metal Centre for this interview, and greetings to all the metal enthusiasts who'll read this, we hope to see you all soon on tour.

Thank you so much Carlos…Wish you the best guys!
