Cool Songs: Desperating Craving Anal Attention, 2nd Ranked Phallic Offense VS. 26th Ranked Vaginal Defense

At first, Goregrinders XXX MANIAK appear amusing, at least to the psychologically unbalanced mind. The group’s album cover, album title, and song titles for “Harvesting the Cunt Nectar” (I didn’t know cunts have nectar) are very much over the top. Songs like “Desperately Craving Anal Attention”, “Buying A DVD Player (Then Raping You With My Old VHS Tapes)” and “2nd Ranked Phallic Offense VS. 26th Ranked Vaginal Defense” are laughable and definitely not for the easily offended (most goregrind isn’t). The random movie samples placed at the beginning of many of their songs are funny, too. Even the minute-or-less cacophony of noise the band makes on each song is amusing, but only for about five minutes.

Because the majority of the songs on “Harvesting…” are less than one minute, none of the songs have any structure. All the songs blast away with no discerning riffs or patterns, and without a list of song titles, you would never know which song you are listening to because it is impossible to make out any lyrics through the vocal vomiting, pig squeals and trash can, guttural growls. Even the inclusion of guest band members like members of RUMPELSTILTSKIN GRINDER does (both full-time members of XXX are or have been involved in this band), BRUTAL TRUTH, AGORAPHOBIC NOSEBLEED, EXIT-13, and others fail to bring an identity to each song.

XXX MANIAK is for the truest of goregrind fans. The group’s song titles and structures resemble non-defunct grinders like A.C. and FESTERING PUKE, very immature and totally twisted. Those who can sit through this entire album and enjoy it have much stronger stomachs than me. I guess as the cliché goes, “different strokes for different folks”, just watch where you're stroking it!
