DEVILDRIVER – Interview with guitarist Mike Spreitzer

It is always difficult to start over. Whether it be from a long-term relationship or the end of a career, beginnings are always difficult. Dez Fefara was faced with this uphill battle after leaving the vastly popular band, COAL CHAMBER. To make matters worse, he formed a new band, DEVILDRIVER, who plays a much heavier style. Since the group's inception, though, he has made his way through constant touring with the likes of such metal superstar bands as TRIVIUM, OPETH, DARK TRANQUILITY, and the blockbuster, OZZFEST in 2004. The combination of hardcore touring, consistent label support from RoadRunner Records, and creating no-bullshit metal, the group's momemtem is definitely on the upswing. I caught up with the group's guitarist Mike Spreitzer before their performance in San Antonio, Texas on tour with KATAKLYSM, UNEARTH, and DIMMU BORGIR.

KING DIAMOND – Interview with King Diamond

After a quarter-century of releasing some of the darkest music ever written, King Diamond has gone and released his darkest album ever! By taking inspiration from his own life and his past writings and adding Mercyful Fate member Mike Wead and early KING DIAMOND bassist Hal Patino, it is understandable when King referred to his forthcoming album “Give me your Soul…Please” as his best effort. In a recent phone interview, King Diamond discussed why this album is so great, and the terrifying storyline. The following is a summary of my conversation with King Diamond.

REANIMATOR – Interview with Guitarist Julien Lefort

Canada's premier metal label, Galy Records continues to tap into its country's wealth of talent. Their recent signing, REANIMATOR consists of a group of young vigorous thrashers who are not a bit afraid of showing their love for old school thrash and classic metal. Their debut album on Galy “Thrashin' the Neighborhood” will kick you in the teeth and leave you wanting more. Considering the recent success of throwback bands like DRAGONFORCE, MUNICIPAL WASTE, and 3 INCHES OF BLOOD, REANIMATOR is a group sure to go a long ways!

PHLEBOTOMIZED – Interview with Dennis

Unfortunately I completely missed out on this band when they were active – it was only when someone recommended them to me on a forum that I finally checked them out… and I'm extremely glad I did! Phlebotomized were lightyears ahead of their time when they released their own brand of experimental and progressive Death Metal!
Phlebotomized may be long gone, but the music definitely still lives on. I was lucky enough to have Dennis answer a few questions about the band's past and tell me what he's up to now…
