ANTAGONISM is a proof, that Italians can play different music than power or heavy metal. They also prove, that Italians not always have good ideas, when it comes to music. This formed in 2005 band, released one album, of course, by themselves.
Death Metal has something in it, what makes people listen to it. It is fast and dynamic, with recent motif changes and makes people commit suicides. In case of ANTAGONISM, only the last feature matches their production. The album is completely boring. The listener can easily fall asleep while listening. From the beginning, the power that should be visible and audible, cruises somewhere outside this CD. Only the last song Poisoned Rats has some bigger kick and is worth listening to. The fleshy deep throat growl is not enough. The riffs are repeating, they lack some freshness and new ideas. Scattolini is trying to create the effect of speed by hammering on the cymbals! Definitely this is not the way to do it. The songs sound very much alike, sometimes it is hard to find a difference between G-Hate or No More. Only the technical level is much higher then those ideas for music. Everything is simply too dull for death metal. This music does move the entrails, but not in the way, anyone would like them to be moved.
ANTAGONISM should try harder if they want to be present on the metal scene. By making this album they've created an antagonism between them and the fans of death metal. Music should be created with some pleasure and good will, whereas this album sounds as if it had been born in pain, but with little effort.
