APATHY „Cold Endless Winter”

First of all, a little disambiguation: there are at least five APATHIES and two of them are from Sweden. This one, created in 2003 in Norrköping is a Death doming metal band, informing us about melancholy, suicide, despair and death. Nice collection as for beginning. The rest is pure sound… quite nice even. A brief notice: check out the official website for free album download, because there is an information, that this demo will not be available again.

Despite the title, this album is not as cold and endless as sometimes winters can be. It is filled with energy (sometimes depressing, but energy is energy) and can touch the listener, but only if he or she listens carefully to the whole. Everything is kept in a slower pace, which can create the atmosphere of winter. But the melodic parts (the leading guitar is fantastic) just diminish this effect and make it a real depressing inferno. Poetic slows are just in their places (good choice in ‘The Ghost of Me’). The riffs cooperate with drums and contribute to the energetic winter background. Very strong bass line also deserves a word: it is not lost in the noise created by the guitars. The same goes with the hoarse growl – it is just in its place, like everything.

Despite of that depressing like climate (which sometimes annoy), the album is very good. Draws the attention, pleases with varied motifs and seduces the heart. Because it is audible from the first sound, that this music has been created with a heart.
