Country: France
Cool songs: Destitution, Oriens (Ruins and Rise)
This French gothic band, formed in 2003 by two music maniacs: Alexandra and Mehdi, is a little phenomenon on the French ground. A country of the avant-garde in every musical genre, where cultures clash in the streets. This must be something good, because the mixture of metal, rock and electronic and oriental sounds, sound pretty cool.
This short EP is a very typical gothic production: the mood is gruesome and poetic. The beginning of this album is heavy but later on, this power is being lost, for that mood. Destitution is very interesting, surrounded by oriental sounds which make it original and unable to mistake with any other song. Out of My Grasp is rather sad, with depressing main theme, whereas Into the Maze is more powerful, has a stronger and vivid guitar. This works very well, does not create the impression of cemetery (which is very often present on gothic albums). Only Oriens is deprived of any guitar play, thus the heavy style is completely lost, but this does not work in minus. On the contrary, this operation created a wonderful and poetic song, a perfect sad ending of the whole. Alexandras voice sounds very much alike Amy Lees from EVANESCENCE and this fact can work as a glue for fans, who will be eager to buy this music.
Summing it all up, this EP creates a good impression. It is very short, ends quickly and creates a wonderful feeling of wanting more you want to scream: give me more! BEYON-D-LUSION released their full length album by now. Lets hope, that it is at least as good as their EP.
