BLINDSIDE have been playing for 10 years now. The Great Depression is influenced by Christian Lindskogs trip to Africa, where he had seen many unpleasant things. Those mentioned things pushed him to write songs based on the situation in which are the people living on this continent.
And it seems that this idea influenced this album too much. This alternative production is a release which left me having mixed feelings, after listening to it. Why is that? The answer is really simple: more and more bands are trying to shine on the scene by playing such music, i.e. that mixture of hardcore and alternative rock. I have to admit, that BLINDSIDE are doing it pretty well, although the ideas are old fashioned and do not bring any fresh waft. On the contrary everything smells like a dead fish, that has been lying on the beach for some time. There is no hint of attraction any at all. The riffs are dull, the drums simply do not move the listener, and that depressing mood destroys everything. I know, that such lyrical theme should be supported by appropriate music, but in case of BLINDSIDE, the music is supported by the theme. It is dull and boring, despite of less boring elements, like Yamkela or Ask Me Now. Those two songs touch the listener very deeply, emotionally, mentally, involve that person in the process of receiving music, but the rest is so predictable and repeats too often, so that this nice climate is destroyed.
In my humble opinion, laying flat on the floor, with a cat sitting on ones face, is more relaxing and has more sense, than listening to this album. Despite of that noble message and sending, this music repeats everything weve all heard before. The title of this CD speaks for itself treat it as a warning.
