Cool songs: Dracula’s Mechanized Universe, Alpha and omega Spaces (instrumental)

The concept of this band came to life in 1998 and was growing in the hearts and minds of young Polish musicians. After establishing the line up, in 2000, they started to establish their concept of work. And after some time spent in the studio, they managed to record ‘Plurima Mortis Imago’, an avant-garde black metal production. And one last thing – you will not find them in Poland, because they have their base in the U.K.

That avant-garde stuff actually does not move, as it probably was supposed to do it. DEVILISH IMPRESSIONS are probably trying hard to do their best, but still, they remain quite silent. Even those pseudo-symphonic elements creating the quasi-pathetic atmosphere are not enough. Those elements not only show, that the guys did their homework, based on DIMMU BORGIR, but also that they did not learn much from it. Their album bores from the very first note with monotonous riffs and those silly drum fills. ‘Dracula’s Mechanized Universe’ is probably the best composition on this CD, with many motif and style shifts, interesting keyboards parts and cool vocals, which bring some freshness to the whole. But this is probably also the best they can do, because later on everything is back again on the same track. The keyboard intros create quite nice atmosphere, but are to weak to carry the burden, which the rest of the compositions create. ‘Alpha and Omega Space’ played only on keyboards sounds like a pause created by a comma, in a complex compound clause. Helps to take a deep breath, to go through the rest of the material.

DEVILISH IMPRESSIONS sound as if they had a concept that black metal should be straightforward. And they claim, that their music is avant-garde. Well, I did not hear anything away from the schemes. More originality and new ideas would just do.
