EZRA STONE was formed in 1996 in Orlando. This band plays a raw version of power metal. Their first full-length album titled ‘Volume I’ is a totally self produced record and the band managed to record it after several personnel changes.

And the title of this album suggests, that we will hear some day another part of it. And in my personal opinion this is not such a good idea, because by listening to this one there is an impression that the band had used every possible idea. What is more, those ideas are used only in a small percentage – what I mean is that the band could have squeezed far more than that. The compositions are very good… from the technical point of view, there is no doubt about it. But they sound very dull, do not kick butts or just simply move. The guitar solos are very good, but the environment in which they exist is very toxic and does not allow them to spread wings. They are deafen by some average riffs. Furthermore, this album sounds like a hybrid of CLAWFINGER and MC HAMMER, with some fancy-like-power metal band. And this does not sound quite good, ‘None I Assume’ is a good example of this phenomena. And those midi-like keyboard parts just torture the brain. And one last thing – sometimes the intros sound very cool, but later on everything is completely lost, those better elements drown in the swamp of dullness.

This album disappoints on the full line and fills with fear, that EZRA STONE will record another crappy-like album. The best thing for them to do would be to split up and make up after a few years. The experience shows, that this operation works good on power metal bands.
