From a Second Story Window vocalist, Will Jackson, comments on the status of their third Black Market Activities release, Conversations, We have around nine songs in final rough-outline form done and plan on writing more as we tour. As far as recording, some pre-production has taken place at a friends house in Warren, OH, and we are looking to begin recording around January 2008.
Jackson comments on the bands approach to writing this record and the resulting concept, The new record is shaping up to be a collection of songs that are really in tune with how we, as a band, are feeling right now. There are a variety of influences on this record, but the main thing we want to get across is ourselves. This record is a reflection of where we stand as a group, both musically and in the reflection of our ideas in general.
The concept portion is coming along nicely as well, lots of ideas are coming together and the voices are starting to live in their own realm as more lyrics are finalized and remembered. The basic idea for Conversations is becoming more of an exercise in creative writing than a concept album, all the while trying to stay true to the form of traditional, positive, lyrical creativity. The songs, all written in short story format and involving a myriad of characters– their dialogue being the lyrics of each song– will show our ideas of how the times we live in are affecting the people who exist within them. To reflect reality is to be an artist; or something like that.
