Cool songs: Converted by Decapitation, Soul Afire
Since 2001, when the band was formed, as a one-piece group, the beginner of it, Craig Horval, released a demo, which was a silent voice. After a while, some crew joined the band, and things started to go better. In 2003 a demo was recorded, inspired by such groups as KREATOR or SACRIFICE and led to the release of Converted by Decapitation in 2004. Which I have had the pleasure (sic!) to hear.
The album starts with an interesting demonic intro, a demon-like voice mutters some incomprehensible utterances, accompanied by an acoustic-like guitar. The mood, which is very dark, gruesome and depressing, after the intro simply perishes. It is replaced by a butchers workshop. Simple guitar riffs, although shuffled quite often, do not blow away. The drum fills, in the majority of the compositions, lay flat on the floor, one simple beat, repeated constantly is as boring as ditch-water. Everything changes in the title track: extremely fast drums carry the burden created by the guitars and dull vocal line. Intro to Sentenced to Extermination is a kind of relation from the past, the scene of holocaust presented by a woman, who witnessed the scene. The music actually does not depict the action, it is more appropriate for some furious raids. The musicians show with their play, that they lack in some kind of basic feeling in what they were doing.
This is a one-note music, after one fashion, any Tom, Dick and Mary would record something like that. Does not differ from any other underground thrash production. Although, with some elements which allow us to hope for a better future.
