Cool songs: Canadian metal, F.O.A.D.
For any long time DARKTHRONE listeners dont be expecting, Under a funeral moon or, Transylvanian hunger. The album has taken a more thrash orientated direction. Think MOTORHEAD or VENOM with a black metal tinge. This will probably annoy some of the long term fans who still want them just to do a rehash of earlier material, but personally Id rather hear this than a poor quality attempt at reliving the bands past. The albums pretty tongue in cheek. Lyrically its all infantile, but its great fun. In my mind this is one of the funniest albums of the year, whether intentional or not. Songs like, church of real metal may sound like there treading on MANOWAR territory. The song Canadian Metal is just made up of lyrics from Canadian thrash bands lyrics. The production is pretty raw, but fits well with what their doing. It just doesnt matter that Fenriz is probably taking the piss, because it works. The riffs are good and catchy and the songs all come together to make a good album. There isnt anything serious here, just a good fun thrash album to head bang to.
