Cool songs: Twilight of Duality, The Pathless Path to the Knowable Unknown, Ageless Consciousness, I Am

Finally, an album which made RUDRA well known, recognizable and fully respected player on the metal ground. After a break at the beginning of 1996, when the band decided to take a leave, and then get back together at the end of the same year, the name was changed by rubbing out the H letter from it. It happened so, because this was the most common English transliteration of the Sanskrit word, being the name of the god of storm and diseases, a form of god Shiva. but let’s leave the historic content… the music is waiting.

This album is fantastic! After weak ‘Kurukshetra’ I was afraid to open the box, but when I inserted the disc into the drive, an astonishing sound reached my ears. Finally, RUDRA made use of their exotic roots, especially in music! They are the kings of black metal in the East, as ARAFEL rules the areas of Israel. They play a fantastic black melt, soaked with tribal and cultural elements. The music is rhythmic, melodic, extremely fleshy, catchy and provides psycho-pleasure. Finally, the sound has been developed, the guitars do not sound as old engines. The riffs are heavy and furious, the pace and motifs are juggled all the time. And the drum fills are amazing, outstanding and awesome. The most of the power (and believe me, it is high proof aggressive sound) is carried by the drums, so it is the same as with the previous album, but here, other instruments contribute to this energy, they do not consume it, but make it even stronger. Simply the eyes become wet, when ‘The Pathless Path to the Knowable Unknown’ and ‘Veil of Maya’ reach the ears. A pure pleasure, pure black power! Take it! While it is still hot.

RUDRA did a fantastic job, when compared to their previous work… astro-job even. No wonder that this album opened them the way to the highest peaks of metal heaven. For me, their country is no more an ethnic ground full of temples, associated with Hinduism and the incarnations of god Shiva. Now, it is my black metal Mecca.
