Cool songs: Dark Promises, Divided

The band comes from New Jersey and was formed by T-Bone, the drummer and Emir, the guitarist. Later on the rest of the tribe joined and they were off. Since the beginning of their existence, the tribe managed to release two albums, ‘Mandala’ and ‘Alone in Pain’. I had the pleasure to listen to their first release.

Looking at the band’s name I was expecting some kind of extremely aggressive grinding deathcore, but to my surprise, the album welcomed me with civilised music. ‘Mandala’ is a poetic album, where this pathetic atmosphere is created by the heavy and fleshy music, which is also quite lazy, but still, full of energy. The riffs are heavy and varied, so the repetitions are absent, motifs do not repeat. And that ‘acoustic’ intro to ‘Divide’ builds up a great ‘in-waiting’ atmosphere, which later on develops into a full-idea, a cool creation.

‘Mandala’ is a very moody album, where many emotions play. Such music is very demanding, because not everyone would like it. Heavier parts mixed with poetic vocals sometimes do not sound well, but all in all, it is still worth listening.
