The band was formed in 1996, by Necrolucas (Master of Depraved…) as a project, totally associated with blasphemous scorn to Christianity and moral laws as well as the glorification of perverse debauchery. Quite nice, as for the beginning, and later on, the idea slightly developed, as the first official line up consolidated. ‘Atrocious Disfigurement…’ is their recent record, which has been reinforced by the previously released EP ‘Tormenting Pale Flesh…’.

The whole is kept in a pseudo-grind climate, although it is a typical death release, spiced up with blasphemy and other satan stuff. The most interesting is the fact, that the most of the compositions are in a sense unique. They do not use the same old ideas, are not calques or clichés. Those are authentic, raw, extremely fleshy and powerful tracks, ready to rip out the soul and sacrifice it on the altar of the black mass. The riffs are very fleshy and dynamic – the parts do not repeat – their monotonous martyr brings horrendous visions. The songs are divided into sections, therefore there are at least three motifs in each of them. All the power which is closed in the disc, would be enough to supply a small town – this is the essence of the energy created by the brutal performance. The drum fills strongly reinforce the whole, not to mention that spitting like vocal, the great infidel Master of… – everything served in a bloody bowl, shaken, not mixed, but with a downgrading tendency, as near the end, the compositions start to melt, henceforth they sound very much alike.

ANIMA DAMNATA recorded an interesting and pretty vulgar album, which will definitely be worshipped by the fans of satanic metal. All in all, it is a model performance, with various motifs, and many interesting fills. Maybe not innovative, but pretty soul gripping. A perfect material for deviants, as the band. Be careful with that – after listening, you will not be the same person again.
