The whole idea of this icy group came to life during one freezing evening of 1997, when Jokull and Dr. E decided to play some raw music, of black origin. At the beginning, the band existed as a two-piece only, because there were not any musicians, who could support the project. Finally, in 2001 Savn joined the group and things started to gain momentum. ‘Varg’ is the band’s third release, second EP at the same time.

If someone wants to hear something innovative and harsh, with freezing emblems, straight from the northern blacksmith, will not be disappointed. ‘Varg’, the album filled with chary guitars, rich drums and hoarse growl, is just at hand. The compositions show, that black metal is not only a brainless butchery for perverted people, but can also bring some more sophisticated emotions, than masochistic pleasure. Developed rhythmic sections allow to notice the melody, the music constantly changes, the musicians shift the ideas as if they were in some kind of a huge jukebox. From black metal to death, to black again, finally, reaching elements of grind. Everything fits here like in a puzzle – there is no empty space, all of the pieces are in their places.

‘Varg’ is one of those albums, which you would not take on a deserted island, but it is good enough, to lock yourself in a deserted room and play it very loudly, so that the area around would become deserted. Cold winter snow and freeze will dominate the dungeon of sound.
