MACHINAE SUPREMACY is a freezing Swedish band, formed in 2000, who conquered the Internet underground scene and made serious waves in the world of game music. The band have performed with the Swedish Royal Philharmonic Orchestra, as well as the number one Norwegian symphony orchestra KORK. Redeemer is their third album, and this version has been re-issued by the Spinefarm Records. It differs from the bands original with the number and choice of tracks.
Redeemer is a good example of classic heavy metal, full of melodic features. MACHINAE SUPREMACY recorded an interesting album, where main burden is carried by the keyboards, as the guitars are sometimes in the shadow of synthesizer. Despite of that, the riffs are strong enough to kick ass, but they do not pulverize. This music allows to fall in love with it, but on the other hand, the more we hear , the more we start to dislike it. Fortunately, love changes into sympathy, not hate. Dynamic compositions quickly absorb and do not let go easily. The perfectly performed material grasps and also clutches strongly. The one things which seems to be odd, is the vocal – sounding as if it was artificially created, sometimes being close to Claudia Carnals from LOWEMOTOR CORPORATION. Nice metal, not heavy, but still able to move.
Redeemer is a CD, towards which two approaches can be chosen: the first is to love it and disliking it throughout the listening. The second is contemplating it step by step, piece by piece, so that the psychedelic image finally reveals the mystery.
