Guitar player Stefan Elmgren has made the decision to leave HAMMERFALL to concentrate on his second passion, flying. He has been working hard the last couple of years to get various flying certificates, and was recently offered a position at an airline:
My interest in aviation has been growing very strong during the last couple of years, and I would have hoped for an opportunity like this maybe in a couple of years, says Stefan and continues: I feel its time for me to take the step and become a pilot on a professional level, another dream come true for me after travelling around the world and playing metal for eleven years. We have discussed the possibility of combining the piloting work with HammerFall, but we all realized that it would be impossible given the rigorous schedule of the band.
There is never a good timing to lose a great guitarist like Stefan, but considering were in between touring and recording it could definately have been worse, says drummer Anders Johansson. Well announce his replacement shortly so we can continue working on our next record, the recordings are scheduled for this summer and we will not let this affect anything we have scheduled. The show must go on, as we all well know.
